simone update...

we had simone's appointment today at primary children's, she was so amazing and sweet and actually had fun at the doctors (say what!?!) the E.N.T said she most definitely needs to get her tonsils out and soon. he explained that children with such big tonsils who have a difficult time breathing at night can have heart problems and even heart failure. he explained all of the risks (which sounded mild in comparison to what i had read online. yikes.) but also said that he does over 400 tonsilectomies every year and that 50% are on children simone's age. he is an amazing doctor and she will be in the best hands.

so in about 3 weeks she gets them out, i am taking a surgery prep. class at the hospital to get prepared and my mom (who is an R.N.) is coming out to help with the recovery.

surprisingly, i am feeling good about it. heaven only knows she has been through much worse... remember?

she sure is cute though and don't even get me started on those big blue eyes...

It's me, the stranger again :) I'm so glad you gave us an update and that, essentially, you got some peace about it all...see, late night, on-line searches are never, ever good!! Sounds like God brought a wonderful doctor who is going to take great care of Simone...such a blessing!

Gods blessings as you anticipate and prepare and love on your sweet family!!

That last shot is so precious. Why the devil do you have to wait 3 weeks though?? Seems like if she needs to get them out so bad they should do it soon so that both of you can sleep better at night. We'll chat tomorrow, can't wait to see all my ladies.

So glad you have feel peace now. God will be the one doing all the work through the doctors hands and there will be angels surrounding her. I know it's tough to have to go through something like this, my son had open heart surgery a week after he was born and he is doing great now. It was the hardest thing I have ever gone through but you will be fine and so will she. Kids are sooooooooo strong and they recover very quick. God will be right there next to you holding your hand as you wait and with her. God bless you.

Hey Amy- we have mutual acquaintances, but we haven't met, I check-in with your blog now and then...I guess you almost came to the 'imogen heap' concert with Becky, Caroline, and I...maybe we'll meet one of these days.

Anyhow, I've had all 4 of my kids' tonsils out, three of which I did the same morning this past summer, here: http://rhodesingeneral.blogspot.com/2009/07/rhodes-home.html

So worth it. Simone will do great! And my youngest, sela, had the hugest tonsils, she is breathing so much better now!

She is way too cute for her own good. Those EYES!!!! Too die for! If it makes you feel better, Primary Childrens is so amazing with the kids. Our experience there with Zion could not have gone better. I was a complete mess when we got there. They put them in these cute little jammies, give them bubbles and stickers and give them their own little wagons with some toys. They also give them a sedative to help them to be calm so they aren't scared when they wheel them back in their wagons. She will do wonderful and she will be in the best hands. Let us know if you and your sweet family need anything! Dinner perhaps???

You don't know me but I came across your blog trying to find a photographer, wished I lived closer I love your work! My daughter must be the same age as your Simone. We just had my little girls tonsils and adenoids out. My son also had his out at 2 and a half years old. Seriously it seems so horrible at first but really it will be good. We went back for I.V's for my daughter but it all worked out. Now it being 4 weeks after the fact I am SO SO SO happy that we did it. My mother in law is a nurse also and she helped a ton. If you want me to tell you some of the things that worked for my stubborn little girl email me and I will send you a list.
