house stuff...

there are a million little (and big) things i am dying to do around my house. this week we have big plans to tackle a few things on our list. first, i am going to paint a few walls in my house a dark navy blue...

kind of like these...

i have been wanting to do it since we moved in but have put it off because i was hoping to paint my wood floors black and well, i didn't want it to be pitch black around here. so i am going ahead on the walls and if (when) we decide to do the floors, i'll paint the walls again a lighter color (probably white) the reason we (i mean chris) are dragging our feet on doing the floors is because we heard it is a difficult process and that you have to move out for at least a week because of the fumes from the sealer... have any of you done this? please let me know how it went, i am dying to know.

we are also getting our garden boxes built and all filled with goodies. chris is also working on constructing a chicken coop so we will have fresh eggs in just a while. mmmmmm.

it will look something like this...

i love when the season changes from cold and miserable to warm and beautiful... i feel so motivated and rejuvenated and ready to get things in shape around here.

Amy - we had floors pained when I was growing up at home. We did two rooms at a time. Took a couple of weeks, and for the duration of the day of painting the kids were out of the house.
There is a con to painted floors : every 4-5 years we had to re-paint to make them looks nice. Plus cracking paint was not my fav look ( and that depended on how the wood decided to react to the paint). But it could be because it was so long ago :) And paints might have been different then. I don't know :)

exciting paint choice...can't wait to see pictures!

and, love the chicken coop! i gave our kids baby chicks for a few years for easter when they were younger, and we had the most adorable chicken coop that was titled 'city chicks!' after some died, some escaped, we ended up with 4 hens that all laid a different colored egg...white, brown, green, and pale blue. they're called 'easter eggers' and my kiddos LOVED running out to collect the eggs each day... {geesh, long story.} so, when you get your chicks - look for a variety because the colored eggs are really fun, then also, you know who laid an egg that day and who didn't...

p.s. John wants to paint our floors black more than anything!!! I haven't looked into it yet, but it sounds like it's quite an ordeal!!
