clearance rack...

i took myself down to the target last week to just walk around for a while. we do not live very close to one so when i go, i spend some time (they are building one practically down the street though!!!) i hadn't been in a while so i was scouring pretty much every rack and shelf in the joint when i happened upon a bunch of the zac posen for target line on the clearance racks in the woman's department... we are talking like three bright orange tags clearance. i couldn't believe that there was so much there and for so cheap, did it not go over? i scooped up all that they had in my size which was a bunch of cute tees and tanks, a brocade skirt and this number...

felt like i won the lottery walking out of there with all that stuff for free pretty much.

yesterday, we celebrated the dad around here. i cooked a big meal and had all of chris's family over. our backyard is so beautiful right now, we have three huge trees and they make the afternoons so lovely with all of the shade they provide. i set up a big table, decked it out, brought out my fancy dining room chairs and that's where we ate. i am so sad i didn't get a photo of the table before we ate, but i guess that's how it goes sometimes.
i thought it turned out great and i hope the dads enjoyed it :)

of course i made fresh pasta (i cut it by hand since i don't have the pappardelle cutter)

the view from my spot looking up, the sun peeking through...

we lingered and talked for hours, love the sight of a well used dinner table...

chris is a perfect father and our little girls are so, so blessed to have his love. he loves them so completely and unconditionally. and they love him to no end.

and to my daddy... i still feel like a little girl who is totally in awe and amazed by my father. you are my hero forever and i love you so much.

i'm excited that i was contacted again to do another review for csn stores... they pretty much have a million online stores so if you are looking for a new bathroom vanity they have an entire website dedicated to them... or barstools, t.v stands or coffee tables... you get the idea :)

i have decided to review a few gadgets from their cookware website. i'll let you know how it goes :)

***also, LOUANDLEE is offering free shipping for one day only 6/22 so if you have been eyeballing something in the shop now is the time to take the leap.

last night chris was across the street all night helping contain an oil spill that dumped over 21,000 gallons of oil into the beautiful creek that runs across the street. to say i am frustrated by the situation would be an understatement. we are all totally heartbroken. it may sound dramatic, but we love that creek... we feed the ducks a couple of times a week and honestly just love listening to the sound of it on a quiet evening while we sit on our front porch. i am really going to do my best to not get all political even though i do have very strong opinions on the issue, especially after reading things like this but as i sit and type this i am smelling the strong stench of oil and listening to the loud hum of a pump pumping the water. it makes me sick.

here are a few photos i snapped this morning...

the same spot we had estee's party, one week ago...

this one i got off of ksl.com

estee is the biggest animal lover on the planet so when she spotted the newspaper this morning with a photo like the one above she got big tears in her eyes. we explained the situation to her and she was completely devastated, even after we told her that the duckies were at the zoo being cleaned and cared for. this is the picture she colored in church today.

it makes the gulf spill so much more real to me. what a tragedy.

estee's party...

she had a perfect evening. all of her family and friends were there to celebrate and she was in heaven with all of the attention and love.

i didn't get many photos because i was so busy running around but i did get a few and sarah took some too (thanks!)

here are a few from the night...

all of the fresh flowers are from my garden... i'm so in love my peonies i could cry.

and a few instax...

it's always a little crazy throwing a party so i have to thank my mom for slaving with me all day. i couldn't have done it without her. and estee was so cute thanking us over and over and over again for her perfect party.

i have been wearing my romper all over town. i love this thing and wish i could find five more that are this cute (mine is vintage)

i will warn however, that things can get a little tricky when you have to use the ladies room, with the top being connected to the bottom and all. but i still give rompers 2 thumbs up and will be searching high and low for more.

fresh pasta...

i made fresh pasta yesterday for the first time by myself. my mom has made it many times throughout my life and i have just enjoyed the fruits of her labors without doing any of the work. i have to say, i loved every minute of the process. i used two books that really walk you through the whole process step by step... this one and this one (both great books i highly recommend)

i made about a pound of fresh fettuccine using

3 cups flour (unbleached, organic)
3 whole eggs
3 egg yolks

here are a few photos of the process...

i seriously am going to be making fresh pasta all the time, it is so delicious and really fun to do. in fact i am making some right now... i'm in trouble.

the machine i got can be found here, and i love it... really, really easy to use.

sun makes everything better...

simone is getting big. look at that little girl? she is walking around like she owns this place and saying things like "actually" every other word. it sounds really cute and big girl coming from such a little thing.

this warm weather has been a long time coming around these parts. but hopefully it is here to stay. i have been planning like a crazy person for estee's birthday bash next week and spent forever on the invites and after i got them out realized i put the wrong date on them. honestly, what is wrong with me? i am always doing stuff like that. so lame. and estee wanted to invite her whole class at school so now i have to resend invites to school with her. such a pain. anyway, the party is not going to be anything fancy but since i am making all of the decorations, it's just time consuming.

oh, and our garden just might make it after all. it was real touch and go for a while there. what with the snow storm at the end of may and all.

i went to a d.i.y club that my friend nicole in my neighborhood does every month. she and susan taught us how to make these adorable skirts and i was such a reject at sewing. like really crazy bad and could hardly sew a straight line. anyway, it got me really wanting to learn how to sew. so i decided to try and teach myself, i figure i've taught myself how to do alot of things, why not sewing? plus my mom comes next week and since she is a master seamstress i figure i will pick her brain a bit. i have made the girls a ton of skirts each one looking better than the last and now i am attempting a simple dress for estee. we'll see how it goes...

here is estee wearing one of the skirts i made for her...
