more house updates...

here is a better shot of my navy blue walls. the color is gorgeous and we couldn't be happier with it.

ann got me 7 of these beautiful books from anthropologie for christmas (that's all our store carried) maybe i will get the rest for mother's day, hint hint chris. i love how they look next to some of my favorite pitchers (another collection) on the built in buffet in the dining room.

i finally found new (really old) bar stools that i love. once again chris did not trust me and did not want to buy them, he kept saying the guy who sold them to us was laughing all the way to the bank. once i got them cleaned up and all situated he loved them. he does that all the time. we also put new light fixtures in and love what they have done for the room.

i am so happy about my choice to paint the kitchen white, i love how all of my brightly colored treasures just pop all around the room.

still so much to do... :)

i hardly ever download my photos from off of my iphone, i did it for the first time in ages yesterday and i was rolling. i had the original iphone when they first came out then upgraded to the newer phone and then broke it and then just recently went back to my original so some of the photos are really old.

i'll tell you a few stories...

sister and i went to a sneak peek of the first twilight movie... we were literally hiding in a corner we were so embarrassed because there were camera crews and everyone had their faces painted things like "real men sparkle" and "team jacob"

we then proceeded to go back and see it several more times and even take pictures of the screen a few times (now that is embarrassing)

a baby simone after tasting a lemon... i love that face.

did you know she was also a nose picker? that is so not princess behavior.

and i don't know why i'm obsessed with this one of her and her pancakes in the hospital...

flying over the french alps en route to venice, italy...

and a very special collection i like to call "speedos at sea". please enjoy...

beards and mustaches...

we are obsessed with this beard me iphone app... the girls can't get enough. actually, neither can i.

so happy it's friday. i believe the term is "T.G.I.F" (remember T.G.I.F on T.V in the 80's?... that was some quality television programming right there.)

have a great weekend!

a little craft...

sister and i had a little craft night a while ago. this is what we came up with...

perfect for my newly painted white kitchen! (no more nasty brown! YAY!)

here's a closer look...

oh here is my bread recipe... so easy. enjoy!

this makes two loaves.
2 pkg. yeast
1/2 C. warm water
1 T. salt
3 T. sugar
2 C. warm water
6 C. flour (white or whole wheat)
1 egg white mixed with 1 T. water
cornmeal

disolve yeast in 1/2 C. warm water. add sugar, salt, 2 cups water and 2 cups flour, beat well and let rest for 15 min. add remaining flour and knead until smooth and shiny. let rise until doubled (about and hour and 1/2) in a buttered bowl lightly covered. divide in two and then let rest for 10 min. roll each section into a 12"x15" rectangle and then roll them into long rolls. cut top 1/4" deep every 2 inches, and place on sheet sprinkled with the cornmeal, let rise until doubled again. brush with egg mixture and bake at 375 for about 35 min. or until golden brown.

more stuff...

another post about a bunch of nonsense... hope you don't mind :)

like i said before, we are in home projects mode right now. i painted both my dining room and kitchen (not navy blue in the kitchen) and am in the market for new light fixtures for my kitcken, new bar stools and a new (or really old) dining room table. i am also going to be wallpapering my bathroom very soon.

here is a peek a my new navy blue walls (in love) and my newly styled shelves (i love doing this often and changing them up)

i have been baking bread like a crazy lady... in fact we aren't even buying it anymore. i am using a wonderful whole grain flour and it is so good and my kids go crazy for it.

rising

ready to eat :)

all packaged up for a neighbor... (the bread bags are from the bosch store)

this morning, i called my sister and informed her that i am doing my best to bring back the feathered bangs look... i'm not sure she was feeling it so much so she had me send her a photo...

ha! now i'm not so sure about the look myself :)

hope your monday is perfect...

lately...

simone is potty trained! it was real touch and go there for a couple of days though. i started out sitting with her in the bathroom for hours just waiting for her to go because i didn't want her to make a mess so bad, and it was making both of us crazy... then i said to her "just tell me when you have to go" that's all it took. seriously, she just started telling me and going and no accidents for two days including night time. i feel like a new woman.

i guess this means it's time for a new baby :)

i have been obsessing over ebay/ksl/craigslist/thrifting... i go through stages and i'm on one. big time.

listening to a lot of music. i made chris a mix CD for his birthday of songs that remind me of him/us... best gift ever. he loves it. i'm big into the mix CD's, i've been making them for everyone. who doesn't like getting a surprise mix CD? i think it's a lost art :)

really? snow? april 13th? i could have cried this morning.

better go, i need to bid on something on ebay... i love a good bid war. wish me luck.

house stuff...

there are a million little (and big) things i am dying to do around my house. this week we have big plans to tackle a few things on our list. first, i am going to paint a few walls in my house a dark navy blue...

kind of like these...

i have been wanting to do it since we moved in but have put it off because i was hoping to paint my wood floors black and well, i didn't want it to be pitch black around here. so i am going ahead on the walls and if (when) we decide to do the floors, i'll paint the walls again a lighter color (probably white) the reason we (i mean chris) are dragging our feet on doing the floors is because we heard it is a difficult process and that you have to move out for at least a week because of the fumes from the sealer... have any of you done this? please let me know how it went, i am dying to know.

we are also getting our garden boxes built and all filled with goodies. chris is also working on constructing a chicken coop so we will have fresh eggs in just a while. mmmmmm.

it will look something like this...

i love when the season changes from cold and miserable to warm and beautiful... i feel so motivated and rejuvenated and ready to get things in shape around here.

spring break...

we did some serious spring breaking this year... college coed style. not really but we did go to vegas for a few days. let me tell you that a 4 year old and vegas do not mix well. let's just say there were a lot of questions at ceasars palace after we passed the statue of david replica. we had the best time though celebrating my dad's 60th birthday and thanks to my cousin katie who took the girls back to st. george a couple of days early we even got to go out on the town a little bit.

but wait, we started spring break in sunny st. george with chris's family for a week... it was perfect and so relaxing and i kept hearing about all of the snow salt lake was getting and thanking my lucky stars i was not there.

oh, happy birthday to chris today! we celebrated it up... decked the house, cupcakes, new shoes and sunglasses and then dinner at the copper onion hope your day was perfect love, you deserve it.
